Flames vs Lightning Songtext

Flames vs Lightning Songtext
Well it was flames vs lightning
From the first time we met
Sparks flew and trees shook and the skies turned red
I′d growed like a weed
He was finally a man
When we left speaking softly
He just took my hand
I said where you been
I ain't seen you round
He said I been busy
I been pitching a tent
Wherever I feel
And I walked 300 miles
I said well thats our last drink
The money′s all spent
Well its flames vs lightning
And it don't get much better
When its dark and needs brightening
We can just lie together
He said why don't you come over
Look at these paintings of trees
And we can eat toast with jam and drink tea
I said well why not
I guess that sounds nice
And so began one of life′s great mysteries
So we talked til the morning
Bout nothing at all
And didn′t say much
Of the things we were ignoring
When we ran out of words
We slept deep and long
When we woke up
I sang him such a pretty little song
Well its flames vs lightning
And it don't get much better
When its dark and needs brightening
We can just lie together
First came the kissing
And the meeting of minds
And a slow realisation
Of what we might be
Next came the missing
And the growing of vines
And the hard calculations
Of what love could mean
It soon became clear he was somewhat poetic
And did some things to me
That did not serve him wrong
We felt it was strange
And kinda prophetic
I said lets not fight fate
Lets face facts and move on
Well flames is like stalactites
And lighting′s like stalacmites
And it soon became clear
If we held on we just might
Find a place on this Earth
Where two lovers could meet
And live oh so happy
And love oh so sweet
We still sleep in the place
Where the lightning first struck
And the flames burnt away
All of yesterday's deeds
I′d waited so long for a sky full of such luck
And he said he'd been waiting for someone like me
From the first time we met
Sparks flew and trees shook and the skies turned red
I′d growed like a weed
He was finally a man
When we left speaking softly
He just took my hand
