The Eagle Songtext
von Light This City

The Eagle Songtext

He glances, glances with contented eyes
The floorboards creaking and rocks to the side
Close to the sun is how he sees it
But the light′s coming back through his eyes
Ain't, ain′t that the ideal world
Is there ever a better sky?
Lord of the ocean
Bury you to the king
His hat and flannel all fell out of his eyes
And his head is not too lean
So just now when the water's deep
He never cares to consume it
And though he's always lost amidst surroundings
As he skims the surface
He finds some spare time to
Realize the meaning
Of the shallow deep
The hearts of the creatures not to be
They overflow with surge of a being
In fear, as he envisaged

His distinguished position of the king
In the depths of the stone
Changing the face of the dying countless bones
A shining ghost of dead of a spirit
Now his single thought is dead
His hand, face and even the crowd
Turned to a pan to singe and pierce the eye
He watches from his vessel world
His mind, once again balanced the flight
And thought that it′s time to move
His heart racing hard as he runs down
And grabs the eye
His hat and flannel all fell out of his eyes
And his head is not too lean
So just now when the water′s deep
He never cares to consume it
And though he's always lost amidst surroundings
As he skims the surface
He finds some spare time to
Realize the meaning
Of the shallow deep
The hearts of the creatures not to be
They overflow with surge of a being
In fear, as he envisaged
His distinguished position of the king
In the depths of the stone
Changing the face of the dying countless bones
A shining ghost of dead of a spirit
Now his single thought is dead
His, by instinct
His conscience remains
A burning, ceramic, terrific within
And though the sand′s green and the sea
Holds in its outstretched world
Even if it's the end
It′s still the old history
