Chemo Songtext

Chemo Songtext
Cold and shivering in my hospital gown
Another reminder of my vulnerability
The doctor comes in and he says "How are you?"
I say "I don′t know, doc, you tell me"
Life's just a joke once you′ve learned to find
The humor in the little things in life
Like cancer
Like fighting to survive
To try to stay alive
Long enough to find an answer
'Cause it's chemo day 304
And I′ve only got infinity more
And my life stretches out like the white tiled hospital hall
In front of me
Then it′s chemo day 305
And I'm feeling like I′m barely alive
Then the drugs kick in and it's back to a state of numb
Tranquility
Back to the chemo day 304
Sick and tired, barely able to move
The vertigo is driving me to my knees
Hair is thinning and I′m spitting again
The treatment is just as painful as the disease
And then suddenly the cancer is gone
And I'm in control of my own life
But I′m dreaming
Then I'm throwing up in bed
Half naked and half dead
And I'm on the verge of screaming
′Cause it′s chemo day 304
Every day just like the one before
And my life stretches out like an endless series of tests
Eternally
Then it's chemo day 305
Just a thing I′ve gotta do to survive
Then the drugs fade out and it's back to the pain of new
Sobriety
No thanks to chemo day 304
It never ends
And I tell my friends
But they don′t understand
When the world cuts you to the bone
You have to face it alone
'Cause it′s chemo day 304
And I'm nauseous and I'm tired and I′m so freaking sore
And my life stretches out like my special personal hell
In front of me
Then it′s chemo day 305
And I'm happy to somehow be alive
′Cause the drugs kicked in and I'm
Feeling a new sense of invincibility
Thanks to the chemo day 304
And 404
And 504
And more, more, more, more
My life is chemo and this is day 304
Another reminder of my vulnerability
