We met in good faith,
Her eyes a mirror to everything
I could not face,
I wonder: where do you go to hide?
That place where respite waits—
Asks nothing of you
But tenderness. A space to let fall
Your most anxious & sacred armor.
You call your eyes reborn
But they're broken & clouded.
I thought this place restored
But it's shrouded in scorn.


The moment a baby is born,
They see only with an open
Heart. Look in that mirror,
Try to see a bit clearer.
Not the fear you used
To twist truths and harm me.
I was armed with nothing
But these open arms and all
This love inside me. I'd held
So much so close inside.
It never even crossed
My mind to check my blindside.
