Arlissa Songtext
von Kofi Stone

Arlissa had a dream once
She had a dream, they say dreams come true
But what you supposed to do when your skies ain′t blue?
When you've seen a lot of pain but you′re only 32
When she was 22, she met a guy that was an artist
An artist in the sense that he would paint a lot of pictures
Charming in demeanour, see his presence was appealing
But she was pessimistic 'cause they always end up leaving

The last guy broke her in a couple different ways
But listen to the story as the pen fills the page
See, he was 28, and he was well established
Real outstanding contribution to the arts
Winning over hearts one painting at a time
Ex was in the picture, tryna leave it all behind
He wanted something different, they just really wanna align
You can't fight connection, that′s the way it was designed

See, Danny took a liking to this woman named Arlissa
He followed her on Instagram, they started liking pictures
They started talking then he asked her out for dinner
Arlissa got the steak, it was killer
She was excited and aware of who he was
She was so intrigued, so she asked him what he does
He told her that he paints, acting like she didn′t know
So as it seems, they was getting close

Stone
Your hands are cold
I'll keep them close
No place like home
When it′s falling around you

Cold
You turn to stone
Nobody knows
How much you owe
When it's falling around you

Arlissa had a dream once
She had a dream, then the dream came true
Or so it seemed, see these scenes ain′t new
But Danny seemed keen, that's a dream made true
Truly she was someone he could vent to
They never got dessert ′cause there was nothing on the menu
They got the bill and then they headed out the venue
But what I'm 'bout to tell you might offend you

Don′t let the devil tempt you
The evening started coming to a close
Danny had this look upon his face and it was rogue
They started talking, they was walking down the road
It was by the riverside and it was cold
The temperature was low
Arlissa knew that something wasn′t right
But was she overthinking? Intuition never lies

He held her hand, they headed off into the night
He whispered in her ear, "Me and you are so alike"
He stopped, and then he came a little closer
He turned the girl around, that's when she started getting colder
Nervous as he spoke, the thing is Danny wasn′t sober
Desperate, she was calling on Jehovah, it's over
What′s about to happen was the thing that really changed her
No one was around, but she could feel she was in danger
He chose to play the devil when he should've been her saviour
′Cause Danny took advantage and he raped her

Stone
Your hands are cold
I'll keep them close
No place like home
When it's falling around you

Cold
You turn to stone
Nobody knows
How much you owe
When it′s falling around you

This song is dedicated to the victims of sexual assault all around the world
May you find peace
Oh why? It′s the same, it's the same every time
Oh why? Let the stain, let the pain in your eye
Oh why? It′s the shame, it's the way that you cry
Don′t cry, don't cry, don′t cry, oh
