The Panic Songtext
von Julia Deans
The Panic Songtext
Shouldn′t we be loved?
Shouldn't we be making plans?
We′re standing on our own
If I leave the panic of today
I wouldn't have to hang my head tomorrow
I can feel the seconds slide away
A lonely mechanism to start over
And it's such a steel cold grey
The colour of a long lost day
Carry it on, carry it off
It′s such an obvious response
Why do we always sleep alone?
Taking it out, keeping it in
How do we know where to begin?
Deep in our hearts we sleep alone
If I lock the panic deep inside
Could I become conditioned to the silence?
All loneliness aside
Is this the way I want to face subsistence?
And so I paint a steel cold grey
In honour of a long lost day
Carry it on, carry it off
It′s such an obvious response
Why do we always sleep alone?
Taking it out, keeping it in
How do we know where to begin?
Deep in our hearts we sleep alone
Shouldn't we be loved?
Shouldn′t we be making plans?
We're standing on our own
And holding on our fears
Shouldn′t we be loved?
And surely we can understand
We're never on our own
Shouldn′t we be home?
Carry it on, carry it off
It's such an obvious response
Why do we always sleep alone?
Taking it out, keeping it in
How do we know where to begin?
Deep in our hearts we sleep alone
Shouldn't we be making plans?
We′re standing on our own
If I leave the panic of today
I wouldn't have to hang my head tomorrow
I can feel the seconds slide away
A lonely mechanism to start over
And it's such a steel cold grey
The colour of a long lost day
Carry it on, carry it off
It′s such an obvious response
Why do we always sleep alone?
Taking it out, keeping it in
How do we know where to begin?
Deep in our hearts we sleep alone
If I lock the panic deep inside
Could I become conditioned to the silence?
All loneliness aside
Is this the way I want to face subsistence?
And so I paint a steel cold grey
In honour of a long lost day
Carry it on, carry it off
It′s such an obvious response
Why do we always sleep alone?
Taking it out, keeping it in
How do we know where to begin?
Deep in our hearts we sleep alone
Shouldn't we be loved?
Shouldn′t we be making plans?
We're standing on our own
And holding on our fears
Shouldn′t we be loved?
And surely we can understand
We're never on our own
Shouldn′t we be home?
Carry it on, carry it off
It's such an obvious response
Why do we always sleep alone?
Taking it out, keeping it in
How do we know where to begin?
Deep in our hearts we sleep alone
