Stars and Slivers Songtext

Stars and Slivers Songtext
Neon rivers on the street tonight
Silver windows try to frame my life
Painted boxes, pink and baby blue
I slip right through that point of view
All these labels written in the sky
Heavy words they never asked me why
So I spin and let the colors blend
Write my story with a bolder pen
They say "you′re this" or "you're not that"
But glassy words can′t hold me back
I'll twist their maps with velvet hands
And dance beyond their tiny lands
I'm not a box, I′m not a name
Not just a piece in someone′s game
I'm like a song they can′t contain
A book of stars without a frame
In every sliver, I find light
A shifting truth, a softer fight
I'm more than words they try to pray
A sky of colors, in every way
They built castles out of ancient rules
Kept the power, kept us in their schools
But I dream in shapes they′ve never drawn
Break the dawn where every line is gone
I'm their daughter, weaving brighter skies
Wore their armor, now I shed disguise
Every truth they tried to cage in me
Turns to wings and melts the lock and key
Who said blue was meant for kings
Who cut rainbows into strings
I′ll paint over every tile
Watch the concrete start to smile
I'm not a box, I'm not a name
Not just a piece in someone′s game
I′m like a song they can't contain
A book of stars without a frame
In every sliver, I find light
A shifting truth, a softer fight
I′m more than words they try to pray
A sky of colors, come what may
Stars and slivers fade away
In the glow of a golden day
Silver windows try to frame my life
Painted boxes, pink and baby blue
I slip right through that point of view
All these labels written in the sky
Heavy words they never asked me why
So I spin and let the colors blend
Write my story with a bolder pen
They say "you′re this" or "you're not that"
But glassy words can′t hold me back
