I′ve been tracking the patterns
I've been watching the clock
And I know that none of it matters
But I just can′t stop
I've been hearing the chatter
I've been letting them talk
But when I try to make sense of it after
The meaning is gone


I′ve been putting puzzles together
Finding where each piece fits in tight
But when I step back to take in the picture
It never looks right
I′ve been charting the weather
I've been tracking the light
But I still can predict it no better
Hope someday I might

I′ve been writing equations
I've been plotting the trends
But even after all calculations
It never makes sense
