Winding River Songtext
von Jon Busselo

Winding River Songtext

Long past midnight, amidst singing crickets
I was born in a wooden shed by the winding river
A candle burning brightly in the midst of summer
Until the hours of the morn′

It took me time, but I learnt my lesson
A few dimes for my daily chores
I may not be clever, but I worked my ass off
To build myself a little home

I met my friends on the highest mountain
An hour's walk from the town hall
Nothing ever relieves you like a fountain
When you come home after a long, long walk
Well that′s something that I should've known by now

I met my girl at the end of winter
We talked for hours by the winding river
At the time 21, my hands would shiver
Until we kissed in the midday sun

I fell in love with her like a fool
At the factory, I worked like a broken tool
Sometimes I wondered would I ever get some rest
But then I saw her belly, underneath her dress
And I knew this was probably for the best
