Dodging Bullets Songtext

Dodging Bullets Songtext

Thank God for my good woman
You know she is my driving wheel
Praise the Lord for my sweet woman
And the way she makes me feel
She′s the reason I keep getting up
When the world drives me to my knees

You know they pay me by the hour
They rent my body by the week
I get my checks on Fridays
That's when my pockets are released
Company says it may move South
Where people work damn near for free

Our bills keep getting higher
Our pay′s already spent
Junior wants hundred-dollar sneakers
And we barely make the rent

We get up early in the morning
Working by the break of day
Come home dead-tired in the evening
Drop into bed with nothing left to say

Been dodging bullets here this morning
Too many deals, too many fights
Yes, they were shooting here for hours
Our little girl, she cried all night
It gets so bad a man could go crazy
Kill everything in sight and sell the movie rights

Now won't you come here, little angel
Come into your daddy's arms
It′s alright, it′s alright, stop crying
Go back to sleep, my precious one
Yes, when for you and your mama's love
I swear I′d grab the bottle or the gun
