Holding It Down Songtext
von John Baumann

Holding It Down Songtext

I′ve been shining bright like a lone star
On the highway honing my sound
From the dive bars in Alice
To the honky-tonks in Dallas
I'm in Texas holdin′ it down

This guitar's got its share of dings and scuff marks
No polish on the body or the crown
But it's got something deep inside
That lets me sing with pride
I′m in Texas holdin′ it down

I've got the West Texas dust
And that East Texas rust
A little San Antone and a touch of Cowtown
I′ve got the wind and I've got the salt
I′ve got songs in the vault
I'm in Texas holdin′ it down

There's a long, white line of Hall of Famers
Who traversed all across this sacred ground
From the Panhandle plains
To the South Texas grains
I'm in Texas holdin′ it down

I′ve got the West Texas dust
And that East Texas rust
A little San Antone and a touch of Cowtown
I've got the wind and I′ve got the salt
I've got songs in the vault
I′m in Texas holdin' it down

I prefer to wave the flag of independence
And I like to get a little bit unwound
My songs are all sung in my own native tongue
I′m in Texas holdin' it down

I've got the West Texas dust
And that East Texas rust
A little San Antone and a touch of Cowtown
I′ve got the wind and I′ve got the salt
I've got songs in the vault
I′m in Texas holdin' it down

I′m in Texas holdin' it down
