The devil nearly died in the middle of the night
With no one by his side but me
Paralyzed with fear, and a prayer for one more year
He lamented his career and he softly spoke these words

He said
"Please, stay by my side
I don′t wanna die alone"

Even now I can't deny this gradual descent into abandonment
As a lonely man now I resign to just pretend
To be anxiously waiting for an end

The conviction of a life of crime
I whispered in his ear "life is not to be revered
It will always disappear just when you need it most"

Still he said
