The Page Songtext
von Jenn Johnson

The Page Songtext

Red velvet petal, a safety, a trigger
The echoing silence of that final sigh
A ripple resounds through time, through the air
Like the backfire of a gun

Did I fumble or falter, selfish and numb?
Did I fail you in so many hundreds of ways?
I can′t help but shoulder at least some of the blame

Had I been there, maybe
Things, they would have changed
Had I been there, maybe
It'd still be the same

Don′t tell me to hold on
Don't tell me that things will get better in time
This page, it serves as proof of inheritance of loss
As it crinkles and crumbles with the grief
That I can't cry away

Memories thicken like fleece of a blanket
That scalps me on those lonely nights
Now I′m haunted by fear that I never told you
How much joy you brought to my life

Had I been there, maybe
Things, they would have changed
Had I been there, maybe
It′d still be the same

Don't tell me to hold on
Don′t tell me that things will get better in time
This page, it serves as proof of inheritance of loss
As it crinkles and crumbles with the grief
That I can't cry away

Don′t tell me to hold on
Don't tell me that things will get better in time
This page, it serves as proof of inheritance of loss
As it crinkles and crumbles with the grief
That I can′t cry away

Don't tell me to hold on
Don't tell me that things will get better in time
This page, it serves as proof of inheritance of loss
As it crinkles and crumbles with the grief
That I can′t cry away
