Phone Book Songtext
von Jay Bennett

Phone Book Songtext

Well, I′m so sorry that, that I blew your cover
But it wasn't that hard when you jump from under one sheet to another
With your celluloid hit-and-run agent
Were you just thumbing through or intending on pain?
But I′ll bring you a phone book, tell you who delivers
It's not the cold outside, the fires, or the quivers
It's the static in your head that makes you feel numb
Why curse the whole world for being dumb?
For being dumb

Well, I know your instincts tell you to run like hell out to mother
But it isn′t that hard when you′re not
The one still in love with the other
With your boy wonder science fair station
You can probably pray for some chemical salvation
But I'll steal your mail so they cannot deliver
These so sadly colored letters, you′re so privileged to forgive her
It's forgetting that matters if you can still feel
Why buy or exhaust emotions when you can beg or steal?
Beg or steal
