Fourth & Main Songtext

Fourth & Main Songtext

Used to sit on daddy′s shoulders on the Fourth of July
Watching that high school marching band go marching by
There were clowns and boy scouts, American Legion all on parade
Right in front of our old house down on Fourth and Main

On my eleventh birthday, I got me a Western Flyer bike
With a horn and a headlight so I could ride at night
'Bout the only thing we worried about was looking both ways
Before taking off across the street down on Fourth and Main

Ah, it used to be nothing for the neighborhood
Kids to go running through the yard
Now we all got fences and security alarms
At the old ball field there′s broken glass and needles in the dirt
There's four letter words sprayed on the walls of St. John's Church

I′ve heard it said, "The more things
Change, the more they stay the same"
That ain′t the way I see it now, down on Fourth and Main

Yeah, yeah
Down on Fourth and Main
Ooh, yeah
Down on Fourth and Main
