Summer′s almost gone and I am sitting on the sidewalk
At a place I love and used to call my own
Everything looks quite the same, I'm guessing nothing much has changed
Except maybe the writing on the wall
Just below the silver moon that hangs above my head
My shadow forms a shattered silhouette
And I begin to realize how I look in my disguise
Like a private eye that hasn′t got a clue


Shooting stars are standing still, I don't know how I should feel
Times are changing rapidly for me and you
Falling on my knees halfway awake and half asleep
I throw a fit and start to laugh just like a fool

Someone drew a map of my illusions on the pavement
That in dreams could lead directly back to you
I'm thinking could I change myself completely if I tried?
As water starts to fall down from the sky
I let go and wash away in the cold September rain
And recall your touch with every breath I take


When you left out of the blue, my heart stopped and broke in two
While the world turned and the earth began to shake
