Rather Be Lonely Songtext
von Jack Kane

Rather Be Lonely Songtext

It was just a row, can′t remember what caused it
But I poured the skeletons from both of our closets
I wound you up and then asked you to drop it all
And go to bed
I know how things go and you're seein′ red

It was just a row, can't remember what over
It blurs into one kind of over exposure
When voices are raised, it gets harder to rephrase
And take back what you said
Well, how'd we end up right back here again?

This didn′t seem like the ice on the cake
The nail in the coffin
The slam on the break
It kills me to see it, it hurts me to say
You′d rather be lonely than love me again

It was just a fight, nothing special nor different
But I felt the atmosphere change in an instant
Two lovers became just like bickering strangers
Gone behind the eyes
But I don't think we′re getting it back this time

This didn't seem like the ice on the cake
The nail in the coffin
The slam on the break
It kills me to see it, it hurts me to say
You′d rather be lonely

I tried to recall every word, every sentence
But I can't remember what I′ve had for breakfast
I'm brittle like glass and I'm easy offended
And all my bravado is under pretenses
Well, maybe I should have just stopped my pretending
Winning′s important and pride is expensive
But I′m much too stubborn and far too defensive
Oh, to see that

A chip in the windscreen is cracking away
The finishing touches, the end of a race
It kills me to see it, it hurts me to say
You'd rather be lonely than love me again

You′d rather be lonely
Oh, you'd rather be lonely
Oh, you′d rather be lonely
Oh, you'd rather be lonely than love me again
