Maintain the Rage Songtext

Maintain the Rage Songtext
Way back in those stormy days
When fiery youth set streets ablaze
Banners blown by winds of change
Fanned the fires of freedom
But a candle burns and a flame it dies
Old friends fall to the other side
Yesterday′s allies, tomorrow's enemies
So much for radical beat
So pinky a two left feet
He drank more borscht in a single week
Than his comrades could in a leap year
Now it′s capital gains and tax evasions
Sold out to a new persuasion
He's a red brick in the hands of the bourgeoisie
Makes you feel out of place
Like a breed that's dying
A vanishing race
Sometimes it′s so hard trying to maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
Where is the guy I knew so well
He could play a guitar like ringing a bell
He took time out for a well-earned spell
Supposed to be a short vacation
Now he′s tied down to a family bond
With bills that kill and a suicide bond
And these days he don't think about nothing at all
Makes you feel out of place
Like a breed that′s dying
A vanishing race
Sometimes it's so hard trying to maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
High hopes dashed and dreams astray
Wasted time done and gone
Funny how the largest voice
Is always first to fade away
Lost all faith and abandoned trust
Try to find means to justify lust
Cold comfort rules where hard work reigns supreme
Maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
When fiery youth set streets ablaze
Banners blown by winds of change
Fanned the fires of freedom
But a candle burns and a flame it dies
Old friends fall to the other side
Yesterday′s allies, tomorrow's enemies
So much for radical beat
So pinky a two left feet
He drank more borscht in a single week

He's a red brick in the hands of the bourgeoisie
Makes you feel out of place
Like a breed that's dying
A vanishing race
Sometimes it′s so hard trying to maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
Maintain the rage
Where is the guy I knew so well
He could play a guitar like ringing a bell
He took time out for a well-earned spell

Maintain the rage
