I seen a man yonder, all caught up in the muck
A-twisting and a-jerking, and a-cursing his luck

Of an age, I went a-travelling for to see where I'd been
When they saw me coming, said, there′s no room at the inn
Wind was in a torment, and the hail drilling down
And just then the savage lightning bolt did strike me to the ground

The water was a-rushing, the horses they escaped
I did not believe I ever would be saved
When this fellow come by, seemed just in the nick of time
You know me, my brother, please help me, I cried


There′s seven blind alleys with seven dead ends
Seven fools laughing with their seven false friends
Seven singing sirens, seven stairways that descend
And there's seven dead souls riding seven lost winds
