Closer to the Border Songtext
von Hardpan

A hazy Mexican weekend, thinking of names
Boys in the front room were playing board games
Moon Carrie went tumbling head over heels
Silence, twenty secrets were never revealed

Then the band was playing something loud and blue
Two girls dancing together, old steps and new
Well, I can′t believe she said that to me
Romance is not dead in my memory

Closer to the border than we know
In faded luxury and driving slow
Roll the windows down, take a good look around
Closer to the border than we know

Heading south with the last record playing
Lying like leaves on somebody's grave
Around midnight we heard the mission bells
Candles through the gates were casting their spells

Sun came up on the virgin′s wishing well
Found ourselves surrounded

Closer to the border than we know
In faded luxury and driving slow
Roll the windows down, take a good look around
Closer to the border than we know

Closer to the border than we know
In faded luxury and driving slow
Roll the windows down, take a good look around
Closer to the border than we know
