Fruit Cake Songtext

Fruit Cake Songtext
So beautiful, funny
And slightly apart
A hint of the bonkers
Was there from the start
I live my life from day to day
With her I thought maybe things could change
She took the time and learned to live
With the fullest commitment I could give
My engine was revving as I let off the brakes
And I gave my heart to my fruitcake
The buns in the oven
Arrived right on cue
A boy for us first, then
Another one too
We loved them madly with no clue
How life might change and what to do
Losing sleep made things seem much worse
Our love was locked into reverse
With bitterness and anger, what has heart to take
There′s a flying fist of my little fruitcake
I covered my bruises
When I had been bashed
I'd say things were fine when
Inside I was trashed
We went round in circles getting nowhere
Our arguments drifting up the stairs
I was so tired of being tossed in the wake
Of the debris surrounding my fruitcake
Admit there′s a problem
That's some kind of start
Or let it continue
To pull me apart
A long time has passed now
We still hang in
You ask how I'm doing
Well, I grip and grin
Not in denial but concealed
Our family′s together and wounds will heal
It turns out to be the best deal I could make
For our kids, me and my little fruitcake
For our kids, me and my little fruitcake
For our kids, me and my little fruitcake
So look back in anger
Or look back in love
The jury′s still out and
The court is adjourned
And slightly apart
A hint of the bonkers
Was there from the start
I live my life from day to day
With her I thought maybe things could change
She took the time and learned to live
With the fullest commitment I could give
My engine was revving as I let off the brakes
And I gave my heart to my fruitcake
