Introduction Songtext
It′s lovely to see you all here to support my granddaddy, better
Known as Ginger Baker. This year he miraculously celebrated his
Seventieth birthday, and to celebrate this and the release of his
Scintillating autobiography, Hellraiser, my mummy has organised
A night of music with Ginger's musician friends and family. May
I remind you that flash photography is not permitted unless you
Are permitted to do so. I hope you all enjoy the evening. Thank you
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I′ve got some really dear old
Friends of mine who've come along here to play. On guitar we have
Chris Goss, who I worked with on The Masters of Reality. Here we
Have the drum driver, Abbas Dodoo, who is the nephew of J.C.
Commodori, who I worked with extensively in Germany about twenty-
Six years ago, and Abbas is his nephew, and he's come along to play
On alto saxophone we have Pete King. Pete and I go back to like 1960
I think, the Ronnie Scott′s Club and stuff like that. And then we
Have bass, the Jonas Hellborg of Sweden, he′s come all the way out
Here. I've worked a lot with Jonas in the past. And on guitar we
Have my daughter, Lida. We′re gonna play sort of some of the music
That we've played in the past. We have a very special guest coming
A little later, and I will introduce him when he arrives. He won′t
Be Eric, by the way. Eric has just been here to visit me. He's just
Come out of hospital. He had his gall bladder removed and he still
Hasn′t recovered, but he came along to say hello. He's a very dear
Friend of mine. I think "God bless
Eric Clapton" is all you need to say
We're gonna start off with Alamut, which is a number I did
Oh, many years ago with Bill Laswell and co. It′s... let′s make
Sure we get everything in order here on the stage, as usual
We're in a state of total chaos. Are you okay, Pete? Oh, okay
What? It′s alright, I don't mind. Is everybody together? Okay
