Me and my friends, we′re all reaching an age
About which no one warned us. No, no one explained
I know we're all ageing, we′re all getting old
But nobody mentioned the admin involved

When in our 20s, it all seemed so clear
Go to work, pay the rent, spend the surplus on beer
Try our best to ignore that the future was real
Living in the moment had endless appeal

We could never have predicted
What we'd all go through
Not all of it's self-inflicted
But all of it with you


Your 40s are surely a difficult time
And if lucky, we′re roughly about halfway through life
But I′m still none the wiser, I haven't a clue
What the hell I am doing, and neither do you

By now, we′re all supposed to have figured it out
What the meaning of all of this shit is about
We may never get there, achieve inner peace
But we'll fail to achieve it together at least

You will help me to recover
I′ll do the same for you
We will be there for each other
It's all that we can do
