Interstate Songtext

Interstate Songtext

Almost crashed my car today
Getting on the interstate
White knuckles on the wheel, no, I′m not built for this

Watching the whole world slow down
I can't afford to lose this now
And there′s so much to think about, but the biggest thing is this

I miss sitting in the backseat of the car
Listening to mom's CDs
And looking up at streetlights like they're stars
Oh, I think I′ve had enough
I was never really good at growing up

Dentist visit going south
Can′t have needles near my mouth
Heart rate's through the roof, no, I′m not built for this

And I don't know how I got here
Don′t know why I feel this fear
If just one thing was crystal clear, I guess it would be this

I miss brushing with my brother every night
Singing songs and setting timers
Watching sand tell those two minutes going by
Oh, I think the timer's done
I was never really good at growing up

Oh-oh-oh-woah oh-woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-woah oh-woah-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh oh
Oh-oh-oh-woah oh-woah-oh-oh-oh-oh oh oh
I was never really good at growing up

I′m not good at driving, this I know
I'll stick to what I can control
And ride my bike until I feel okay

Let's hope for no more cavities
And as for fillings for my teeth
I′ll ask the dentist if they can sedate

And if I dream, then I′m going back in time
Drawing while my Dad makes dinner
Then Mom will tuck me in, turn out the light
After seven storytimes
Oh, I hope that someday soon I turn out right
