Beyond Songtext
von ELIKAI /// ELEVATE

You didn′t leave completely
You just changed the weight of the body
What was hurting stayed down here
What you were stayed awake
I say your name and it's not absence
It′s a different way of feeling you
There are silences that don't break
Because they learned how to exist
And even when the memory aches sometimes
What remained was never empty
It's the way that love
Learned how to change its voice
I don′t look for you in what was lost
I feel you in what I am
When I close my eyes, I know
That time never pulled us apart
You′re still here, even if I can't see you
In another way of being
Free from weight, far from fear
Closer to what′s true

And when the road turns into silence
I know I'll find you there
Not like before, not like back then
But we′ll recognize each other all the same
I learned to say your name
Without breaking as I speak
There are days when memory
Doesn't hurt anymore, it simply stays with me
What you were is never lost
It becomes a sense of direction
There are steps I take without knowing
They were born from your voice
Don′t carry anymore
They're already under a sign
I didn't leave, I only crossed
What we planted is still alive in you
That′s where I will always be
When you release the shape of time
When you remember who you are here
You′ll feel that I never left
That I was always within you
There's no distance where we exist
There was no before or after
Just two souls recognizing each other
In the same breath once again
You′re still here, without form or age
In everything you taught me how to love
It wasn't goodbye, you only changed your presence
You were always close, there was never real distance
