Elephant Graveyard Songtext
von Duke Special

You set on a quest for knowledge
Drawn by the dry savannah winds
You dreamed since your days in college
With granite eyes, defiant chin
You crossed over swollen waters
So close to your life′s desire
But you fell off the map of the world
Off the war and off the wire

Did you find the perfect place to lay your bones?
Did you find the ones you knew would call you home?

I climbed to the skull of your mountain
To the stones where you knelt to pray
And there a trail of your burned possessions
Led to a room full of disarray
The hosts who lay down before you
Did they sing you to your knees?
Did they comfort and kiss and hold you
With a heartfelt eulogy?

Did you find the perfect place to lay your bones?
Did you find the ones you knew would call you home?
Did you find the perfect place to lay your bones?
Did you find the ones you knew would call you home?

Did you feel the heavens open like the end was nigh?
Were your own kind, did you seek and did you find?
