Red-Winged Blackbird Songtext

Red-Winged Blackbird Songtext

This consciousness
It wants to pull me apart
Oh I swear
Like a rope stretched for the candle

The cross we bear
Takes its toll from the start
And I fear
It′s a toll too few can handle

I see no lines
In the natural world
When the sun shines
It splits right through the static

And all this time
Spent inside my own head
Oh what a crime
To miss out on all the magic

Oh I hope
You can cope
When that frayed rope
Burns down low

Oh but just know
This small window
It just shows
Ones and zeros

Separateness
It is surely a myth
But the box I'm in
Oh it sure does try to foster it

That′s unless you choose
To unwrap life's gift
All clear-eyed
And just thankful for the thought of it

Oh that faint glow
From the window
It just shows
Ones and zeros

Either way
We will all be okay
Even though
These questions can't be answered

But ask them all
Ask them all anyway
For all we know
We need only know one blackbird

His red wings
Carry us a new day
Those two truths
Oh they keep that bird in motion

You and I
We are one and the same
Just two wings
Unconscious of the notion
