Glaring out her window
I installed a carefree ladder to the brook
I added shadows to the rainbows of her thoughts
Before she even wrote the book

My pantomime continued ′til the day
She spoke the title and blessed the air
My flag fell in the winds of love
And there she sat - blissfully unaware

I recite my poems passively
To blind men who are anything but ears
My words might freeze my soul in time
But nothing can eliminate the years

The deaf mute claims he's heard this song
In alleys of the last World′s Fair
But he can't see what's past his feet
There he stands, blissfully unaware


Racing cars fly overhead the ballroom
Where the King still likes to dance
He says "give your heart to me, my darling
And I will give you another second chance"

But the Queen′s eyes fly out the door
Towards the Jester′s hypnotizing stare
The king respects her silence
But to her actions, he's blissfully unaware

Everything I′ve done, if not buried
Could pass further inspection
But all my hopeless babble lit my corners
And displayed my collection

I've kept all insulting vows to burn and blur me
And to even cut my hair
I′ve rolled with all the punches
But to the slap, I'm blissfully unaware

The waves that stroke the beach
Whisper saving graces to which she pays no mind
It costs more to wait in silence
Than it does to just leave it all behind


The doors all start to bend into
The middle of the room that remains bare
To the sound of rushing water
She is blissfully unaware

The caffeine chills that loosely grab a stranglehold on her vertebrae
The masking tape has been cut from her mouth
But she has nothing left to say
She holds her treatise to the fire
Incinerating her final prayer
But it′s the letters that survive that leave me blissfully unaware
