Undeveloped Heart Songtext

Undeveloped Heart Songtext

My friend David told me
The heart beats like a dream
And down there at the railway station
The lights are turning green
That little black-robed Franciscan priest
Struts down the Legarno
Tips his hat at all the North Americans
And dreams the dream of the Argonauts

We go climbing down
Myriad flights of stairs
Blowing off heat and dust
And stretch our romantic souls
To cover the wanderlust

Midnight in some strange city
Blackburn or medieval
Shiver inside a paper-thin rags
Silence knows no evil

We know the truth
Of the undeveloped heart
Bubblers on the Seine
And Sunset Boulevard
Noise can drive a love asunder
Sometimes your dreams
Can leave you under
The heart can be a lonely hunter

Vendors they sell mercy
Lovers they trade gold
Quiet in the chapel
On that stone-cold floor

Me I go downtown
Get on board the train
Get on out of this town

We know the truth
Of the undeveloped heart
Bubblers on the Seine
And Sunset Boulevard
Noise can drive a love asunder
Sometimes your dreams
Can leave you under
The heart can be a lonely hunter
