I don′t think people see me
I get this feeling sometimes like I'm invisible or something
I can be standing there in a room and I′m talking and everything
But it's like my words aren't getting anywhere

It′s like I′m standing behind this one way mirror
And for some reason they can't hear me
They can′t see me either
And I start to wonder

Maybe

Like maybe I'm this alien species from some other planet
I don′t speak their language and I just look totally weird
But I wouldn't know this because on this other planet

I had this really amazing mother
She told me that I was beautiful
She told me that I had a voice to die for

She told that to me though just cause she loved me
Not cause it was true


And then I arrive here on earth and I′m so
Filled with her love and her belief in me
That I walk around like I'm beautiful
And I sing like I have a voice to die for
And cause I'm so convincing, so strange and so deluded
People actually pretend to listen to me
Cause they′re being polite or something
Maybe, maybe they′re just afraid of me
And at first I don't notice this because
When I sing, I sing with my eyes closed

And then one day I open my eyes and I realize that
I′m living in this world where nobody hears me
Nobody sees me

If anybody ever knew what I had locked up inside of me
I'd be a star
