Hellbound Train Songtext

Hellbound Train Songtext

The investor lay drunk on his boardroom floor
Having lost so much, he could not lose anymore
Terrible visions, they broiled in his brain
He dreamed he was riding on a hellbound train

Well the engine with murderous thunder, it was damned
It was brilliantly lit with brimstone lamp
There was a demon for fuel, he was shoveling bones
While the furnace it rang with a thousand groans

She said we′re riding on a hellbound train
On a hellbound train
Rich man, poor man, we all end the same
We all end up riding on a hellbound train

Well the train rushed on at an awful pace
And suffering few, we splashed our hands in our face
Louder and louder the thunder crashed
And brighter and brighter the lightning flashed

Out of the distance there rose a yell
"Ha, ha," said the devil, "We're nearing hell"
And oh how we passengers all shrieked with pain
Said, "Please Mr. Devil, won′t you please stop this train?"

But he just laughed at us and he danced with glee
He laughed and he joked at our misery
He said, "My faithful friends, you have done all my work
And never does the devil any paying shirt

You have bullied the weak and you have robbed the poor
Your starving brother you have turned from the door
And you have laid up gold where the cancer rusts
And given free rein to your beastly lust"

So now you're riding on a hellbound train
On a hellbound train
Rich man, poor man, we all end the same
We all end up riding on a hellbound train

We have justice scorned and corruption avowed
We have trampled the laws of nature down
We have drunk, we have rioted and cheated and plundered and lied
We have mocked our birth and our hell-born pride

And now we're riding on a hellbound train
A hellbound train
Rich man, poor man, we all end the same
We all end up riding on a hellbound train
