Six a.m. and the bait shop′s open
Pelicans lined up where the dock keeps floatin'
Got the cooler packed, got the rods all loaded
Weatherman said it′s wide open

Coffee's hot and the trailer's hitched
GPS pulled up to my favorite ditch
Knot of three guys leanin′ on a truck
Same crew, same morning, same kinda luck

Yeah you can tell by the way the gulls fly
This one′s gonna be a hell of a sky

Two-foot tide, twenty-knot side
Sun's gonna sit but the radio won′t
Snook on the line, dolphin on the right
Out here livin' where the city folks don′t

Two-foot tide and the water's like glass
Crew on board and the cell phone passed
Whole long day stretched out ahead
Two-foot tide - and we ain′t goin' back


Cracked a cold one, throttle hit the slop
Twin two-fifties never seemed to stop
Past the channel where the markers bend
Same old spot the same old friends

Casting shadows on an oyster bar
Pulled a redfish in 'fore we got too far
Buddy′s tellin′ lies, the dog's all wet
Best dang day we had yet

Yeah you can tell by the way the sky leans
This one′s gonna live in our jeans
