Close Up Songtext

Close Up Songtext
I′ve been taking photographs
Ever since I was a kid
It's all I ever wanted to do or ever did
To document the world around me
Show them who we are
These days my eyes are failing me
And I can′t see that far
Close up, close up, close up
It's the only way I see
My dad still has our house keys
Though the bricks are long gone
Living under canvas
My brothers, sisters and my mom
We had to wait for four years
Till we got the call
We went to the embassy
I guess my blindness set us free
Close up, close up, close up
It's the only way I see
Close up, close up, close up
Just like we′ve always been
What about the cousins that we left behind?
Standing like statues in my mind
And so we came to Canada
With its bicycles and playgrounds
Settled in Regina
A city built on bones and dreams
So if I can′t find my way
And I can't see the street signs
Tonight we′ll have our first meal
And you'll sit beside me
Close up, close up, close up
It′s the only way I see
Close up, close up, close up
Just like we've always been
Ever since I was a kid
It's all I ever wanted to do or ever did
To document the world around me
Show them who we are
These days my eyes are failing me
And I can′t see that far
Close up, close up, close up
It's the only way I see
My dad still has our house keys
Though the bricks are long gone
Living under canvas
My brothers, sisters and my mom
We had to wait for four years
Till we got the call
We went to the embassy
I guess my blindness set us free
Close up, close up, close up
It's the only way I see
Close up, close up, close up
Just like we′ve always been
What about the cousins that we left behind?
Standing like statues in my mind
And so we came to Canada
With its bicycles and playgrounds
Settled in Regina
A city built on bones and dreams
So if I can′t find my way
And I can't see the street signs
Tonight we′ll have our first meal
And you'll sit beside me
Close up, close up, close up
It′s the only way I see
Close up, close up, close up
Just like we've always been
