The Prologue Songtext
Out of the dark, I see my sun
No longer hiding, I won′t run
I know
Who I'm supposed to be and
Who I want the world to see and
I′ve learned a lot of things
Been on this road a long time
Truth, where you been at?
I've been minding my business
Focused on the family, recalibrating my interest
Concerts are okay, but I'm working to make a difference
Back on the ground where the people pay close attention
Been going, working through fact and fiction
Focused, I pulled away just to sharpen up my convictions
Scratch the Grammys and Stellas off of my wishlist
Can honestly take it back ′cause I′m back, I'm back in the trenches
I got nominated for an award this year
But I ain′t even go, man, 'cause I ain′t care
Another Golden Globe, man, I'm just not there
And I look at the album sold, and it′s just not fair
Nah, I got enough already, besides, what it all mean?
Right now it's just a distraction, accumulation of things
More often I'm disenchanted, never deflating my dreams
And I feel at a disadvantage, having more than I need
I would be bordering greed, loitering more extremes
Focused on fame and multiple streams
Feeling disillusioned, look at the interest I′m losing
Still got love for the ministry, hate what the system is doing
Still got love for the craft, I got a gift for the music
But before I hang up my cape, sometime out in the future
I′ma restore order, pray the feeling is mutual
Right now it is so much different
Than when we first introduced it, yup
See, I ain't been quiet ′cause I'm retired, no
Observing the times, minding a pot of gold
Rehearsing my lines for the breakfast club
Gearing up for Sway in the Morning to talk about how it goes
Had dreams but never of being famous
Simply tame it, many of us crave it
Forgive me, been tainted, penny spent
Way too many days trying to save it
But I′m over trying to maintain it, yup
I ain't knocking nobody′s hustle
I just want to go back to a time when it wasn't about the numbers
I ain't knocking nobody′s hustle
I just want to go back to a time when
It wasn′t about the numbers, you dig?
Out of the dark, I see my sun
No longer hiding, I won't run
I know
Who I′m supposed to be and
Who I want the world to see and
I've learned a lot of things
Been on this road a long time
No longer hiding, I won′t run
