The Tracker Songtext
von Cynthia McQuillin

The Tracker Songtext

A silver mountainside and footprints in the snow
I see the trail you′ve left and I know which way to go
Up from the valley you came seeking safer ground
How could you guess I'd be the one to hunt you down?

A glint of moonlight in your hair
Reflected starlight making prisms in the air
I cannot see your face, I only see your eyes
Do I feel the touch of fear or is it just surprise?

I see your shadow as you slip from stone to stone
I pray to all the gods that I′ve caught you here alone
But then we aren't like wolves who travel in a pack
We must live and hunt alone, alert for the attack

I scent your musk upon the air
The breath of danger whispers now you must beware
I cannot see your face, I only see your eyes
And what I see in them should come as no surprise

Now with each passing moon my hate and hunger grows
Still you must share my fear and hatred I suppose
But I have anger now to turn my fear aside
And though you run from me you'll find no place to hide

How have you tracked me to my lair?
The breath of danger whispers death is in the air
I cannot see your face, I only see your eyes
No hope of pity there, the time has come to die

Could you foresee your end when you left me there for dead?
You′ve killed so many now, did you wonder as you fled?
You sense my lack of fear and surely you must know
Your death has tracked you here from the valley down below

The scent of death is in the air
Reflected starlight making prisms everywhere
Now I can see your face and the anger in me dies
For I can see myself reflected in your eyes
