Forsythia Songtext

We′re living in a moment, and the moment is our marriage
We are wed around and around the rim of a glass of wine
The world is full of floods bringing water to the buildings' sides
And we′re married again and again before the water dries

Will you marry me before the water dries?

I know I'm not the strongest; I can't even love you all the time
Can′t bring myself to look into your face
But since we met, the wasps that live inside my chest
Build paper nests
That rattle when the thought of you comes in

Will you marry me or let me live in sin?

I couldn′t see any gun-o man coming
I was planting the seeds in the bed
If I could've known, I would′ve sown up the bullets -
The flowers grown pistils instead

All of the flowers in overgrown beds are nodding their petals out
And putting them fragrantly under the comforter
Under your pillow for under your head -
All of these flowers for some kind of wedding we live in a moment
Again and again
Circling each other's perennial beds

Will you marry me now that the garden′s dead?

Forsooth, forsythia! Yellow and sad
You lost all your blossoms in May
But take it from me - a forsythia tree -
Our love comes the strongest too late
