Lost Years Songtext
Duane was nineteen when things had begun
He was a dreamer and had lots of fun
He wanted to be a rock ′n' roll star
Singing and playing a mean guitar
Duane took a paper one Friday in May
He read the headline twice on that day
Accused of a crime he never had done
Not believing his eyes, stared into the sun
Last year, the nightmare became true
And guilty, in prison, Duane had no clue
Terrified and lonely, he almost got mad
Not having his son Deron, that was where he sat
Last year, last year
He went to the cops to clear the things up
Duane was innocent, no reason to doubt
Did not realize at all that death′s bad
Before he was twenty, his life turned so sad
Duane got in jail, nothing gone wrong
Like many others, some even life-long
No compensation by the government
Just tears in the end
Last year, the nightmare became true
And guilty, in prison, Duane had no clue
Terrified and lonely, he almost got mad
Not having his son Deron, that was where he sat
Last year, the nightmare became true
And guilty, in prison, Duane had no clue
Terrified and lonely, he almost got mad
Not having his son Deron, that was where he sat
Last year
He was a dreamer and had lots of fun
He wanted to be a rock ′n' roll star
