Surely Songtext
von Coppelius
Surely Songtext
When she walked in she shone like a star
No wonder she makes you forget where you are
To tell you of that goddess is my duty
No rose or swan could match her beauty
I knew as time went by she′d be gone
When I see her I know life goes on and on
Surely I cannot live like a monk
But who caught her I was just too drunk
She could make the mountains shake
And every sleeping flower awake
When she spoke to me it felt like a breeze
That gently blows in spring through trees
I can't recall what she said my blood started to run
But the look in her eyes said you′re the chosen one
I tried to answer it took me a while
But what I said chased away her smile
Surely I cannot live like a monk
But who caught her I was just too drunk
With a very hard slap that shattered my face
I knew too soon she'd be in the next one's race
When I think of the pain my eyes open wide
I′m glad no one saw how bad I cried
