The forsaken place in which you lay
This stark monument, hewn in callous grey
Encased in earth your fate

Thou hath been lain down, this untimely frost
The twilight of the day
Unto nothingness you have finally succumbed
Beneath the elms, this gloomy shade


Bleak sculpture of the deceased
Plaque for the mourning to remember
The lexicon of the departed
A chiseled lament (for) your eternal slumber

This lonely guardian will hereafter watch over your days
Standing proud above you as a reminder; to all you′re away
Within the labyrinth you are now confined to decay
To endless nightmares and desires of nothing, purgatory awaits

This small monolith marks your final, solemn resting place
A simple epitaph of your life is all that evermore remains
The finality of death on this solemn reliquary, has been engraved
To hope, dreams and aspirations, that hath all rotted away


Beneath the cold grey stone
Absented from the light of day
Yet even the indomitable memorial
Will eventually wither away
