I went down to the river today
Left home but I guess I shoulda stayed
Maybe in the water I can be saved
I did something that I can′t escape

Looked over the hill and what did I see
A man with the woman who's married to me
Anger filled my soul and I couldn′t see
Bloody hands that can't come clean

I shot 'em both and they lay on the bank
Blood rushed all the way to the lake
Oh that river′s dirty today
Oh what a mess I′ve made

Wrapped in the arms and loving on another stranger

It wasn′t right but I felt real proud
