Ages Songtext
It′s funny what age can do
And for ages I found it funny
When I was young I used to beg my mum
For a little bit of money
My imagination set me free
Now my phone does it for me
And when I was six I used to run from chicks
But now they're running from me
Through the years there′ve been tears
Once or twice
I guess growing up kinda got my mind
Questioning each drop falling from my eyes
Because I find it challenging
Comprehending certain reasons why
You never make the most of what you've got 'til you look back
Living for the moment, so make it feel warm until you take a nap
You could be an aeroplane
You could be a pirate
But you should live to feel free at whatever age you′re at
I could watch the whole world change
But I know I′ll stay the same
I'm holding on for ages anyway
The sound of when we were young
Kicking back and having fun
Holding on for ages anyway
Used to wear my Nike gear
I don′t know why, I would just do it
I wanted a piercing in my ear
Now it's cool if you can see through it (safety)
To play guitar was much too hard
I would moan about my fingers
Now I forgot about the pain
′Cause girls like boys who are singers
As a kid I thought if I could collect enough cardboard
My dad could make me a video camera
Now I've got a camera in my pocket
But all I do is just scroll through Netflix
And there were three VHSs
There were never any stresses about what to watch
Decisions weren′t contentious
Now a choice is unavoidable
I keep getting annoyed, it's all pointless
End up not watching anything at all
When I watched Jurassic Park: Age 3
My older brother was more scared than me
I thought that when you get older
Things got less frightening and you would get bolder
But maybe the more we learn about the world
That knowledge makes us more vulnerable
And these days I can find things overwhelming
When you're young it′s all beginnings
Now I′m worried about endings
I could watch the whole world change
But I know I'll stay the same
I′m holding on for ages anyway
The sound of when we were young
Kicking back and having fun
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
As you grow it starts to show
And I wish someone warned me
You start to get spots and you're eating lots
And everything makes you angry
You get mad at your dad and you scream at your mother
You tell her you hate her
Then you tell her that you love her
And you tell him you′ll fight him
And you say you don't like him
And when you grow up you don′t wanna be like him
Do what you can just so you spite him
'Cause you're a big man now
And you think you can fight him
You′re coming at him with all of your training
And he′s watching you and he's visibly smiling
And all of you know that there′s stuff he's been hiding
Mum′s trying to be strong but she's crying and crying
And he′s standing there and he's lying and lying
And you're watching him with his side to die
I could watch the whole world change
But I know I′ll stay the same
I′m holding on for ages anyway
The sound of when we were young
Kicking back and having fun
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
Ages and ages
Ages and ages
Holding on for ages anyway
It's funny what age can do
And for ages I found it funny
Well you just worry all the time
′Til there isn't time to worry
And for ages I found it funny
When I was young I used to beg my mum
