Change Songtext

Well, my mother raised me,
She scrimped and she saved,
The pittance my father brought home,
From each hard-working day.
Now I clothe you, and feed you each day.
This is my nature,
Now I′ll tell you my name -
I'm called Change,
Oh, I′m called Change,
They call me Change,
Oh, I'm called Change.

Well now, living's so easy,
With head in the sand,
But a man feigning blindness,
Is something that I can′t stand.
Now - look about you!
I′m here once again!
There's some call me progress,
But let it be known I′m plain Change,
They call me Change,
Known by no other name - Change,
Oh, I'm called Change.

And we all know the story -
You′re young - then you're old!
How quickly - how slowly,
The petals of your life unfolded.
Don′t tell me you've never been told,
Each second of you life was so long ago,
Sold off to Change,
All sold to Change,
Though you rail and you rage,
Change, all sold to Change.

Yet they say, "time's a healer",
That time makes amends,
But time brings down mountains, and leads to all ends,
And to me, time′s an enemy, time is a friend.
Try to avoid me and you′ll find in the end,
I'm called Change,
They call me Change,
From age unto age,
Change, oh I′m called Change.

So does change try to nurture you?
Or watch you decay?
Does it consort with darkness,
Or welcome the daylight?
Tell me, d'you recall all of your yesterdays
That once were tomorrows,
But ended up merely today′s - Change?
Oh, I'm called Change,
Always turning the page,
Change, oh, I′m called Change.

Change, known by no other name,
Change, oh, I'm called Change,
It's always time for Change!
