Did you see the ashes in the yard?
Remnants of the time that we were gone
Did you see my favorite teacup set?
I left it in my grandma′s cabinet

I like to sit in the mornings
With a coffee and watch the birds
Come for the feed I leave them
Put the cups slowly down not to disturb

Over the weekend I washed the windows
They're looking cleaner now
I don′t even mind you can see into mine
From the neighbors we'll figure it out

Last night I saw your face through your window
And you like me looked happy to be home
TV glowing, clothes out on the line
Phone to your ear, olives in the brine


I went ahead and set the table
Left open the front door
Don′t worry if you′ve got nothing to bring
I've got plenty enough for one more
Go ahead and leave your dishes
I′ll get to them later on
I'd rather a dirty kitchen
Than not a kitchen at all
