Fighting Words Songtext

Fighting Words Songtext

Tense lazy morning after sleepless night
Body′s aching and the wit's run dry
Remember when you and I used to get so high?

Cold eyes in the mirror above the sink
You don′t have to tell me I feel what you think
If we've got nothing to say, it's better if we don′t speak

What do you do when nothing you say is right?
What do feel when you wake up and find your life spent
Fighting words?

Hollow feeling inside my chest
Pull out the roots then tell me what is left
Never knew we′d get so caught in desire

I shape the words first inside my mouth
But the sound gets mangled as it stumbles out
Or something thick in the air just changes the meaning

I call it alone - but you call it freedom...

Self deception is a painful game
It pulls you in and then it chokes you with the reins
Simple things become more than we dare say...

What do you do when nothing you say is right?
What do feel when you wake up and find your life spent
Fighting words?

I call it alone - but you call it freedom...
