Dodge City Songtext
von Chris Housman

Dodge City Songtext

Well, the folks in Ford County didn′t take kindly
To a limp-wristed cowboy like me
Tried to blend in like camels in cargo and sandals
But this homecoming king was a queen
I knew I could stay and fade away
Or pack up my closet and leave

So, I loaded up that Pontiac
I slammed my boot down on the gas
Wheeled through two stop signs back-to-back
Had to get out of Dodge
With the plastic Jesus on the dash
I left that cowtown in a flash
I had to get the hell out of Dodge City

Don't think that town could handle
This flaming candle
One more time in church, now I burst into flames
Had nothing but a 20
Rolling on empty
But I had a little sugar in the tank

Well, I′ve been through it, and then some
Nothing against them
For me, there had to be another way

So, I loaded up that Pontiac
I slammed my boot down on the gas
Wheeled through two stop signs back-to-back
Had to get out of Dodge
With the plastic Jesus on the dash
I left that cowtown in a flash
I had to get the hell out of Dodge City
Dodge City

So, I loaded up that Pontiac
I slammed my boot down on the gas
Wheeled through two stop signs back-to-back
I had to get out of Dodge
With the plastic Jesus on the dash
I left that cowtown in a flash
I had to get the hell out of Dodge
Yes, I had to get the hell out of Dodge City

(So, I loaded up that Pontiac)
(I slammed my boot down on the gas) Dodge City
(Wheeled through two stop signs back-to-back)
(With the plastic Jesus on the dash)
(I left that cowtown in a flash)

Yeah, I loaded up that Pontiac
And I never looked back
I left that cowtown in a flash
Yes, I finally got the hell out of Dodge City
(Ooh)
