I knew the time was growing near
As the faces and their names all disappear
Far beyond what I have lost
Almost loved again

Change the light of today
I'm free from the wind and the rain
Footfalls found courage and strength

I know the time will be over
Yet some parts remain of the songs I'll sing
I fear last horizons
And the full moon descending
To darkness incomplete

When your life flashes before you
Searching for your terms to come to
When you′ve all but disappeared
Hearts shall nurture morning glories
In no never-ending stories
So take your stab at fate

Change the light of today

On a way through a layered wood

An enigmatic place this is
A blank slate on a sea of drawings
Nurtured in trodden earth of pain and struggle

Tomorrow, can any of us be more than a footnote in a better story
A warning in another's lesson?
Are we too vain to think we deserve to be?

Some paths I have seen lead up to gilded perches
A rare glimpse at that tangled atlas we all wish we knew so well
Some slant deep beneath the roots of clarity
A treacherous end to the misguided
That we may measure our mistakes against theirs
Distinguished and a bit more alone

Come find me in a song somewhere
I′d like to believe a part of me will always live through them
I'd like to believe in anything at all
But there′s just too much I haven't seen yet

The vast majority of our time we shall spend
Tangling among the paths in the dead middle of existence
Marking the accidentals that steer us toward our final destination

The road goes on forever
Others will walk it when we are gone
Make the most of every step
For the final place your feet will rest
Is only a single beat of the march

Believing can't seal our trust
That ways will keep weaving for all of us
As we reach our end of forever
The void swallows up our lives

In the ages of the ageless
Waiting ′til the leaves of fall
Shed their tears to know they′re real
As time endangers us all
Closest to dawn when hope is lost

All caught up in death and fabled hopes
And wasting your breath for paper thrones
All fears' desperate paradises known
Carving your names in empty tomes

Your stories are over as begun
With bodies below, you′ll leave but one
Phrase to be read under the sun
An epitaph true of all you've done

The narrowest paths will fade away
Connected to nil, they′ll leave no trace
Intersecting lines are face to grace
A monument time cannot erase

Erase the gray yesterdays
Let memories not go to waste
Fixated on somber dusk
When shadows' true worth are as Love′s
Veils in the colors of night
Beauty as just out of sight
All epochs the age of your life

Change the key of the rain
Make the world like the place
You'd rather wander
In the apsis of a path unknown
