She was waiting tables in a diner

On his way to Indiana
On another midnight run
So they talked about the weather

The hours flew by like minutes
And it was time he had to go

Halfway out of town

"Turn those 18 wheels around"

They settled down in a little house
In the Spring of '92

And she quit her job at the diner
With the baby almost due
But those early years weren't easy
And they had bills to pay
So he said, "You know I hate to leave you
But I′ll be back by Saturday"

Ten miles out of Tulsa
His boss came on his radio
Said, "If you want to see your brand new daughter
You better drop that load"

And go back
You′ve got somebody waiting

That's where you need to be right now
There′s nothing in this world

Everybody heard the sirens
They pulled his rig out of the snow
In a rush to see his family
Somehow he lost control
Though the doctors tried to save him
He slipped into the light
Then he heard the angels whisper
"Now is not your time"
