Acceptance Songtext
I had a dream last night
I was back inside the house they took from you
I never know if I can trust my eyes
When I saw your face, that′s when I knew
Because I didn't see you, just a distorted frame
With black spots over parts that I couldn′t retrace
I'd forgotten you
And I forgot most of the setting of the house where I stayed
Tried to recite a book I hadn't read since seventh grade
And couldn′t get you through
(It′s just a dream) I was never one to lucid dream
But this is the realest one I'd seen in a while
In a while
(It′s just a dream) I thought that I was moving on
But empathetically all along I'd been in denial
In denial
I felt the mattress pushed against me and I awoke in a cold sweat
I couldn′t get back to sleep
But I tried to see you again
And so I called you in the morning as if you could hear
How much I thought about you every single year
It was mild, but I smiled (It's just a dream)
And now the image of you is slipping from me
But I′ll carry your traits and they won't recede for a while, they are mine, oh
(It's just a dream)
I′m always running from time
Whatever′s on my doorstep makes me feel like how you did when you were alive
