From the Hills Songtext

From the hills I come
Among the giant ancient gums
Where the dole queues string along the gully
When the timber mill closed down
And the cash stayed in the ground
I got me out in a hurry

Well I swung down into town
With my ear to the ground
Looking for a job with some honour
Learning all the rules
With a bag and my tools
I ply my trade in the corner

There′s a junkie at the jukebox
Slowly nodding off
All hits and memories and a racking cough
There's a moth on the beer sign
And a flame on a drum
From the hills I come

Yeah I think back to the hills
Where my friends are living still
And I wonder if their lives have changed at all
Do they still sit in the yard
Getting smashed and playing cards
Just waiting for the welfare man to call

There′s a mist out in the street
And the moon is soft aglow
My car is slumped against the curb
The night is running slow
There's a crazy woman yelling
But I'm lost in the strum
From the hills I come

From the hills I come
From the hills I come
From the hills I come
