Leaving California Songtext

Leaving California Songtext

Well, I think it′s time I leave ol' California
Though I knew this day would come now for a while
I′ve grown tired from the weight of all I've shouldered
And the laundry list of things to reconcile

I came running to the golden shores of glory
To feel the wind and sand beneath my feet
Unaware of all the gilded land before me
Naive to just how wrong a man could be

So I'm leaving California in the morning
With scars in both my hands and in my side
I′m looking on to better days, of hope that′s real and never ending grace
I'm leaving California

And you didn′t have to take the burden for me
Of all that I have said and I have done
I've been foolish in my ways for far too long now
And I fear that it runs deep inside my blood

So I′m leaving California in the morning
With scars in both my hands and in my side
I'm looking on to better days, of hope that′s real and never ending grace
Never ending grace
I'm leaving California

No, you didn't have to take the burden for me
Of all that I have said and I have done
Though I′m feeble in my spirit and my nature
And I never could have bore that weight alone
